Project Ondoy

30 September 2009

Google has set-up a page in cyberspace which outlined the ways in order for us to help in the victims of this typhoon. Click on any of the photos below to be redirected to that page.

Last September 26, 2009, Typhoon Ondoy (international name: Ketsana) brought a month’s worth of rainfall to Metro Manila and nearby areas in just a span of six hours. This has caused massive flooding that resulted in the loss of many lives and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Filipinos. Our house in Brgy Kapitolyo, Pasig was spared from the destruction and all my siblings and relatives are safe. However I know a lot of people close to me that were affected. Luckily though, they are all safe.

Below are some of the widely circulated photos in the web; this was taken probably sometime last Sunday morning.

It is heart warming to note that the Bayanihan Spirit has been ignited during this difficult time in my country. People here and there has been helping in their own little ways. ¬†International aid has also brought relief to our affected brothers and sisters. Even the smallest things when added up can make a very huge difference…

As we brace ourselves on the coming super typhoon
“Pepeng”, let us continue to pray and trust God to
    carry us through this ordeal.

Personally, all these loss remind me the pointlessness of
of spending too much time striving to own material things
when everything can be lost in an instant.

My heart goes out to people who lost everything they have
saved in their lifetime. Most of them have to start all over.
Many don’t know how to begin rebuilding their lives without
    their loved ones.

It’s true! Only in God are we truly safe, everything
else is false security; whether it be money, a nice house,
a dependable spouse or a good job.

God listens to prayer. He is merciful; compassionate. (Psalm 31:22.)
He does not willingly cause suffering but sometimes
it’s the only way to get our attention as we become
too preoccupied with the cares in this world

  2. I feel very bad to see so many Pinoys suffering in the aftermath of Ondoy and now there’s Pepeng hitting the country. We hope and pray that no more lives will be lost.

    • Yeah, suffering is everywhere in the country… Good thing Pepeng was a dud!! But there is another storm brewing daw. Sad but it is good to note that the help coming in has been tremendous.
